Mark S. Heymann, Chairman/CEO
Mark Heymann is one of the founding partners of UniFocus, having more than 20 years of expertise in the
hospitality and service industry. Previously, Mark was the founder and president of the Heymann Group, Inc.
(HGI), a Colorado-based consulting and asset advisory company. After fifteen years of successfully serving
its clients within the hospitality industry, HGI merged with Strategic Quantitative Solutions (SQS), creating
UniFocus, one of the largest performance management firms in the service industry.
HGI developed Watson R.M.™, a resource and labor management software program. It remains one of UniFocus’
key resources in helping its clients efficiently manage its resources to generate a significant return on
investment. During Mark’s tenure, HGI gained the reputation for delivering bottom-line results to its
clients, which included Xanterra Resorts, Colonial Williamsburg, Omni Hotels, Orient Express Hotels, Loews Hotels
and a variety of owners and lenders.
Using his expertise in such areas as staff planning, strategic planning, managerial performance and
measurement systems, Mark has published articles in Hospitality Lodging, Hotel & Motel Management, the
Bottom Line and Lodging Hospitality. In addition, he has been a guest speaker at a variety of conferences
including McGladrey, Hendrickson & Pullen Annual MAS Conference, IAHA of Colorado and the International
Society of Hospitality Consultants.
Mark received a bachelor of arts in economics from Brown University and a masters of science in business
from Columbia University.
Kenneth J. Heymann, COO
As an executive at UniFocus, Ken Heymann oversees all business operations. With twenty years of industry
experience, he is an expert on organization development, change and quality management. Previously, Ken
was one of the founding partners of the Heymann Group, Inc. (HGI), a consulting and asset advisory company.
In 1998, HGI merged with Strategic Quantitative Solutions (SQS), creating UniFocus, one of the largest
performance management firms in the service industry.
During his career, Ken has supervised major consulting projects in the areas of budgeting, forecasting,
staff planning, quality management and information systems for numerous organizations such as Harrah’s Casinos, Ritz Carlton Hotels, KSL Resorts and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
Prior to his work in the Hospitality Industry, Ken held various teaching positions, including an
assignment at Thailand’s Central Institute of English Language.
Ken has contributed to such industry publications as The Cornell Quarterly, The Bottomline, Lodging
Hospitality and Hospitality Technology. He has also authored a chapter on Managing Change in Leadership
and Quality Management, published by the Educational Institute of the AH&LA. He is the chairman of the Board of Governors
of the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management at the University of North Texas.
Ken received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Master of
Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development
from the George Washington University.
Joe Sullivan, CIO
Joe Sullivan directs all technology innovation at UniFocus.
He has over fourteen years experience in developing information systems for hotels, restaurants, and management
companies. Sullivan co-founded Telman’s software division, Telman Decision Information, in April 1996. Telman
Software’s premier product was Focused Scorecard, which was a complete back-office payroll, budgeting, accounting,
and revenue system that was designed for integrating property information to their respective management companies.
Prior to Telman, Sullivan was the MIS Director for Vista Host Hotels for eight years. During that time,
Vista Host became regarded as one of the most technologically advanced companies in the hospitality industry.
Sullivan also was a founding member of Sheldt & Sullivan, a consulting and computer sales company that
served Northwest Florida and Alabama.
Sullivan holds a B.S. in Systems Science from the University of West Florida.
Joan King Managing Director, Loyalty Management
Joan joined UniFocus at the beginning of 2004. She began her role as Director of Account Management and Operations in the Loyalty Management Division and is currently Managing Director of the Division.
Joan brings to UniFocus 18 years of hospitality industry experience that ranges from operations to catering and sales at independent and branded hotels. Just prior to joining UniFocus, Joan was with Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts for eight years at several company managed Dallas properties.
Joan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Widener University in Chester, PA. She has attended PDP courses in F & B Management at the Cornell University School of Hotel Management.
Eddie Hartmann
Eddie Hartmann joined the Heymann Group in the spring of 1986 as a labor management consultant and asset advisor. Upon the merger of the Heymann Group and Strategic Qualitative Solutions, the company came to be known as UniFocus. Eddie is the Director of Operations for the Watson RM Division of the organization. He has supervised major consulting projects and the implementation of software for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Casino Windsor, Caesar’s Entertainment, and KSL Resorts, among others.
Eddie began his career in the food and beverage industry and managed a family owned restaurant and lounge in Denver, Colorado. He also was instrumental in the design and opening of a franchise restaurant concept in Northern California. Other operations experience includes: the Vice President of Operations for a major resort located in the southeastern United States; and as General Manager of a hotel in Los Angeles, California.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Finance from Regis University. He is also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and served as a chapter treasurer and president.
John L. Glazik Senior Vice President, Business Development
John Glazik has managed UniFocus’ Sales and Business Development efforts since joining the company in 2008.
John worked over 25 years in the telecommunications industry with both carrier-class and enterprise network equipment companies. In the last eight years, John has worked in the hospitality market consulting with hotels and deploying new in-room and back-office technology.
Prior to working for UniFocus, he was CEO of several startup companies focused on High Speed Internet Access for the hospitality market (Superclick, Inc.) and carrier-based routers (Ennovate Networks). He was also VP/GM at ADC Telecommunications and has held sales and marketing positions with DSC Communications, Scientific Atlanta and Siemens. Glazik began his telecom career at Bell Laboratories and AT&T in switch development and product management.
John graduated from The Cooper Union with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and has an MS and PhD in engineering from Northwestern University.
Robert Anderson Controller
Robert came to Unifocus in early 2011. After beginning his career in public accounting, he served in financial leadership and consulting roles for several closely-held companies. Robert brings to UniFocus over two decades diverse experience in numerous industries, including construction, soft goods, and professional services.
Robert obtained his BBA in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, and is an active CPA (Texas) and CMA.
