Employee Opinions
By Guest Columnist, Debby Malen
Dolce has always believed in the importance of asking its
employees how they feel about the company and their jobs, as long as
management was willing to listen to what they say and act upon the issues.
Dolce International owns and
manages conference centers
in the United States, Canada
and Europe. The company currently
has about 3000 employees who are
passionate about hosting successful
meetings for our customers. We
offer a diverse, dynamic and thriving
environment that supports career
development for all
of our associates.
In the mid 1990’s,
Dolce began to
survey employees
on their work
experience, job
conditions, and
general feelings
about management.
The survey
was conducted inhouse
as were the
results tabulated,
which could take
as long as two to
three weeks to be
completed.
In 2004 Dolce contracted
with UniFocus
to outsource the process. Surveys
became more sophisticated and more
streamlined with a high-tech touch and
feel. The reports drill down on the
details and make it easier to determine
the issues. Each location is required
to develop an action plan to address
any issues and involve the employees
in the process. If the results are not
within the minimum range of acceptability
for a positive score, the survey
will be re-administered in six months.
Dolce International is a company that
prides itself on having great people.
Our associates are screened not
just for their talents, expertise
and experience, but also
for their likelihood to
embrace the company
culture and ability to be
passionate about the
meetings business.
Training is ongoing,
lifelong learning is
encouraged. We
consider our associates
to be the best in the
industry and we are
proud to maintain the
highest values, which are
embodied in the acronym
T.A.S.T.E:
- Truthfulness – the
ability to consistently communicate
factual information
openly and with sincerity
- Accountability – taking
ownership of our actions in
achieving mutually agreed upon
goals and objectives
- Support – each other at all levels
in order to achieve our goals
- Trust – respecting and
understanding the needs of
others to build integrity in our
organization
- Execution – solving problems
and implementing change in a
timely manner
Dolce has always believed in the
importance of asking its employees
how they feel about the company and
their jobs, as long as management
was willing to listen to what they
say and act upon the issues. In the
hospitality business, turnover can
range between 100-150% annually.
At Dolce the company is proud of its
much lower turnover, which usually
runs less than 35% annually. The
Company feels strongly that this is a
direct result of being willing to listen
and act when changes are needed.
