Mark S. Heymann
Chief Executive Officer
With more than 35 years of expertise in the hospitality and service industry, Mark Heymann is a founding partner and CEO of UniFocus, one of the largest performance management firms in the service industry.
Mark was founder and president of the Heymann Group, Inc. (HGI), a consulting, software and asset advisory company. During his tenure, HGI gained the reputation for delivering bottom-line results to its clients, including Xanterra Resorts, Omni Hotels, Orient Express Hotels, and Loews Hotels. After leading HGI through 15 successful years in the hospitality industry where they developed Watson R.M.™, a resource and labor management software program, Mark coordinated HGI’s merger with Strategic Quantitative Solutions to create UniFocus.
As an expert in staff & strategic planning, managerial performance and measurement systems, Mark has published articles in Hospitality Lodging, Hotel & Motel Management, The Bottom Line and Lodging Hospitality. Also, he has been a guest speaker at the McGladrey, Hendrickson & Pullen Annual MAS Conference, IAHA of Colorado and the International Society of Hospitality Consultants.
Mark earned a B.A. in economics from Brown University and a M.S. in business from Columbia University.
Kenneth J. Heymann
Chief Operating Officer
As an executive at UniFocus, Ken Heymann oversees all business operations. With twenty-five years of industry experience, he is an expert on organization development, change and quality management. Previously, Ken was one of the founding partners of the Heymann Group, Inc. (HGI), a consulting and asset advisory company. In 1998, HGI merged with Strategic Quantitative Solutions (SQS), creating UniFocus, one of the largest performance management firms in the service industry.
During his career, Ken has supervised major software and consulting projects in the areas of budgeting, forecasting, staff planning, quality management and information systems for numerous organizations such as Caesar’s Casinos, Ritz Carlton Hotels, KSL Resorts, Hilton Worldwide, and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
Prior to his work in the Hospitality Industry, Ken held various teaching positions, including an assignment at Thailand’s Central Institute of English Language.
Ken has contributed to such industry publications as The Cornell Quarterly, The Bottomline, Lodging Hospitality and Hospitality Technology. He has also authored a chapter on Managing Change in Leadership and Quality Management, published by the Educational Institute of the AH&LA. He is the chairman of the Board of Governors of the College of Merchandising , Hospitality, and Tourism at the University of North Texasand has taught at UNT as an adjunct faculty member.
Ken received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from the George Washington University.
Chief Information Officer
Before joining UniFocus, Joe co-founded Telman Software’s Decision Information division in April 1996, leading to the development of Focused Scorecard, a complete back-office payroll, budgeting, accounting and revenue system.
Joe was also the MIS Director for Vista Host Hotels where he helped them become one of the most technologically advanced companies in the hospitality industry and a founding member of Sheldt & Sullivan, a consulting and computer sales company.
Joe earned a B.A in systems science from the University of West Florida.
Managing Director, Survey Solutions
Joan King joined UniFocus in 2004 as Director of Account Management and Operations in the Loyalty Management Division before being promoted to division director.
Joan brings 18 years of hospitality industry experience to UniFocus that ranges from operations to catering and sales at independent and branded hotels. Prior to joining UniFocus, she was with Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts.
Joan holds a B.S. in business management from Widener University. She has attended PDP courses in F&B Management at the Cornell University School of Hotel Management.
Sr. Vice President, Organizational Development
Barry Kaplan has managed UniFocus’ Organizational Development activities since joining the company in 2011, bringing 25 years of training experience.
Barry previously worked as director of training with the Heymann Group before leaving to lead organizational improvement activities in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. During his absence, he also worked at Bowstreet Inc., and Groove networks prior to managing the Global Training Development efforts at Symantec.
An eight-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, and winner of the prestigious Navy Achievement Medal, Barry received his M.A. in Adult Learning/Continuing Education from the University of Phoenix.
John L. Glazik
Sr. Vice President, Business Development
John Glazik has managed UniFocus’ Sales and Business Development efforts since joining the company in 2008.
John worked more than 25 years in the telecommunications industry before transitioning to the hospitality market where he consulted with hotels and deployed new in-room and back-office technology.
Prior UniFocus, he was CEO of Superclick, Inc., which focused on high speed internet access for the hospitality market and Ennovate Networks, providing carrier-based routers. He was also vice president/general manager at ADC Telecommunications and held sales and marketing positions with DSC Communications, Scientific Atlanta and Siemens. John began his telecom career at Bell Laboratories and AT&T in switch development and product management.
John graduated from The Cooper Union with a B.S. in engineering, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. in engineering from Northwestern University.
Robert Anderson came to UniFocus in early 2011. After beginning his career in public accounting, he served in financial leadership and consulting roles for several closely-held companies. Robert brings more than two decades of diverse experience to UniFocus, including construction, soft goods, and professional services.
Robert obtained his B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, and is an active CPA (Texas) and CMA.
Vice President Organizational Effectiveness
Michael Goldman rejoined UniFocus in January 2013 having responsibility for oversight over project management activities and overall organizational effectiveness.
Previously, Michael worked for UniFocus from 2007 through 2011 as the Survey Solutions Suite Senior Account Director and then later promoted to Director of Operations. He has held corporate and operational leadership roles with leading hospitality organizations including Walt Disney World, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Omni Hotels. Most recently, he was the Corporate Director of Total Service (Customer Experience) for Caesars Entertainment overseeing the customer feedback and analytics program for thirty-five casino resort operations prior to his return to UniFocus.
Michael holds a M.B.A. and B.S. in Business Administration both from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Michael also completed the Disney Leadership Development Program to begin his hospitality management career.
